The general psychiatry unit in Piteå is a specialist psychiatric outpatient clinic that operates within the catchment area of Piteå Älvdal, which includes the municipalities of Piteå, Älvsbyn, Arvidsjaur, and Arjeplog. We are about 70 employees at the clinic where we provide psychiatric outpatient care with various treatment and assessment efforts for citizens aged 18 and older, striving to provide good, evidence-based, and person-centered care to patients.

Within our clinic, various professions work, such as psychologists, caregivers, nurses, behavioral scientists, specialist doctors, social workers, physiotherapists, rehabilitation coordinators, medical secretaries, and administrators. The psychiatry division has begun a transition to Close Care, where we move care into the home close to the patient.

Between October 2024 and June 2025, the clinic has conducted an exciting project through a work with a specialist psychiatric nursing team, SPOT, which works preventively to prevent the need for admission to inpatient care, reduce time in full-day care, and offer greater participation in the patient's care and early interventions at the right time. In June 2025, the project transitioned to permanent operations, and now the work continues to further develop the operations. We are looking for

We are looking for you who are a licensed specialist doctor or senior physician in psychiatry with experience in specialized psychiatry, preferably with prior experience in psychiatric outpatient care. You should have good skills in expressing yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English, as well as good knowledge of the most common Microsoft Office programs. It is an advantage if you are familiar with the Cosmic and VAS journal systems.

This is what you will work with

The psychiatric reception unit – PYMO, is divided into 3 teams and two special functions and is staffed by 10 nurses and 2 nursing assistants.

ADHD Team: Responsible for about 600 patients who are followed up with medication and testing.
LARO Team: Responsible for about 35 patients with inclusion medication who are followed up at varying intervals depending on where they are in treatment.

ECT: Plans and performs outpatient ECT treatment, currently responsible for about 10 active patients, has the capacity to receive up to 12 patients, treatment is performed in the morning 4 days a week.

Medication Team: Responsible for testing and follow-up of the clinic's medications, currently following about 1000 patients. For example, Lithium, Olanzapine, Clozapine. Also handles prescription renewals via 1177, TeleQ calls, and monitors test results. Regularly conducts medication follow-ups.

Advisory Function: Provides telephone advice on weekdays, during the day.

As a permanent physician for PYMO, you work closely with the staff group on your current patient cases; you have joint rounds and also have individual medical visits with patients that can take place at the clinic as well as digitally.

We believe that you want to continue developing person-centered care together with the staff. It is also important for us that you feel comfortable in the community of the work group and actively participate in workplace meetings and serve as a guiding and developing support.

In the role of responsible PYMO physician, effective collaboration with other care neighbors, external operations, and authorities is also crucial. We also see the importance of internal collaboration among us, that we together take responsibility for our clinic and our shared patients, we see that you are flexible and solution-oriented.

Within the clinic, we work with basic assessments, where basic assessors perform a broad mapping of the patient's current symptom picture to ensure that the right symptoms are matched to the right intervention. It is important that you, as an experienced physician, assist with your assessment competence in these cases together with a psychologist at the basic feedback conference.

The clinic receives AT and BT doctors and currently has 2 ST doctors and 1 junior doctor. In our operations, you are part of the on-call chain at Sunderby Hospital. Information about the position

We offer a permanent full-time position, with working hours scheduled during the day with on-call duties. Start date according to agreement.

Region Norrbotten applies individual salary setting according to collective agreements.
